At Dorothy Barley Infant School, we are dedicated to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress. We have a clear approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and understand the importance of offering a wide range of learning opportunities that go beyond academic skills. Through a culture of challenge, nature and support, we encourage our children to become effective communicators, active contributors, confident and ambitious individuals who are well prepared for the next stages of their education.

To meet the needs of our children with very complex learning needs, an internal intervention space has been developed. This space is a safe, nurturing environment which has been designed to allow children to develop both academically and socially and enjoy their learning. Our intervention space is placed firmly within our mainstream school. Children that access this space are active members of our school community and have opportunities to access learning in their mainstream classroom with their peers.
The internal intervention space is led by our SENDCo, Mrs Osborne, and Special Support Assistants.
