Nursery Application Process
Children can join our nursery in the September after their 3rd birthday (Aged 3). We offer full-time and part-time places.
To apply for a Nursery place at Dorothy Barley Infant School, parents will be asked to complete a Nursery Application Form. These can also be obtained from the school office.
The Nursery application form will ask parents to provide the following details:
- Child’s name
- Child’s date of birth
- Address, telephone number and email address
- Name of parent/carer
- Names and dates of birth of any siblings attending Dorothy Barley Infant School
Parents will be notified if we are able to offer your child a place in our Nursery.
Nursery Admissions Criteria
If there are more applications than there are places available, we will use criteria, in priority order, for deciding which applications to accept. Please refer to our Admissions Policy for further information.
30 Hour Funding
All 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours free childcare per week. We also offer 30 hours free childcare for children who are entitled to this. You can apply for 30 hours funding at the following website:-

Confirmation of a nursery place is currently no guarantee of a school place for the following year. All parents need to apply via Barking and Dagenham Council for a Reception place at the school. You can find out more information on this by visiting their website.
Rising Three Provision
In addition to our Nursery setting, we also offer places to ‘Rising Threes’. This is available to children in the term after their 3rd birthday and will be subject to availability.
Parents who are interested in a Rising Three place for their child should contact the school office for availability and admissions information.
