Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another exciting week in school! Please check the blog posts below for updates from each year group.
School Values
This week, we have begun awarding House Points in class. All of the children are in one of our four houses; Attenborough, Benjamin, Rashford and Donaldson, named after inspirational people. Children can earn house points for following our three school values of Character, Compassion and Challenge. All of the children have been trying their best this week to earn as many house points as possible!
Character – We value strength of character and try to be the best we can.
Compassion – We show care and compassion to ourselves, each other and in all that we do.
Challenge – We always work out hardest and aim to achieve.
Pupil Leaders
Over the coming weeks, we will be electing pupil leaders to take on a range of roles in school. These positions of responsibility will help them to develop their independence and to contribute positively to our school.
Our first exciting opportunity is for Year 2 children to become House Captains. House Captains work with Mrs Ratford to represent their house and all of the children within it. If your child is in Year 2, look out for ‘Vote for Me’ application forms coming home soon!
Time to Talk
We would like to invite you to join us for our Time to Talk sessions – an informal and relaxed opportunity to come into school, share your thoughts and work together with us as a valued part of our school community.
Whether you want to learn, have ideas to share or simply want to connect with other parents and staff, we would love to hear from you. Refreshments will be provided, so come along and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee together!
The first session will be on Wednesday 9th October at 8:55am and the focus is the Junior Duke awards.
Uniform
It’s lovely to see the children looking smart in their school uniform. Please note that children should wear plain white polo shirts to school, not blouses. All children need to have a Dorothy Barley Infant School book bag.
If you have any second hand uniform in good condition, we would be grateful for any donations to the school office.
Musician of the Week
Every week, we learn about a different musician in school, from different time periods, cultures and styles of music. This week the children have enjoyed listening to the music of The Beegees.
Have a lovely weekend!
