Dear Parents/Carers,
This week has been incredibly busy with the excitement of a wonderful Sports Day! Here’s a reminder that there will be lots of exciting activities and learning happening over the coming weeks, so please keep an eye on our diary dates! There will be some upcoming meetings for parents too, so please check the school diary regulalry.
Health & Safety Information
Parents and carers are responsible for supervising their children (both infant and older) whilst on the school premises, before and after school in the playgrounds. Please ensure your children stay close by you at the start and end of the day as the playground is a very busy place at these times.
Your child can bring a water bottle to have in school each day. This is especially important as warmer weather is now upon us! You may also wish to put sunscreen on your child, before they come to school, as the weather hopefully continues to get warmer and sunnier.

Sports Day
A wonderful time was had by all at yesterday’s Sports Day. The children were amazing and really enjoyed taking part in exciting new races! A huge thank you to Miss Perry, our PE Coordinator for putting together such a fantastic day. It was fantastic to see so many parents and carers there, cheering the children on and also taking part in the parents races – thank you for being such great sports! Thank you to the staff and children for making it such a positive experience. It was lovely to see the children cheering each other on and having such an enjoyable time.
Uniform
Please ensure that your child always comes to school in the correct, full school uniform and footwear. They should also bring their book bag to school each day.
Please ensure your child has their correct PE kit in school.
As the weather is now warmer, please look at our uniform policy for information regarding the school’s summer uniform.
You can find the school uniform policy on the website or please ask in the school office for a hard copy.
If you have any school uniform in good condition that your child has grown out of. we would be grateful for donations.
Please remember to write your child’s name in ALL of their uniform.
Parent Governor Vacancy
The Governing Body of Dorothy Barley Infant School has one vacancy for a Parent Governor. Governors are people who want to make positive contributions to the school and the education of its pupils. Parent Governors are elected by their fellow parents. They are important because they keep other governors in touch with issues that concern the pupils’ parents.
Being a Parent Governor can be enjoyable and rewarding. If you have the enthusiasm to come more closely involved with the running of your child’s school please come and collect and application form from the school office.
Thank you for your continued support.
