Dear Parents/Carers,
As we are heading towards the final few weeks of term, here’s a reminder that there will be lots of exciting activities and learning happening over the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on our diary dates and contact the school office if you need any further information.
Health & Safety Information
Parents and carers are responsible for supervising their children (both infant and older) whilst on the school premises, before and after school in the playgrounds. Please ensure your children stay close by you at the start and end of the day as the playground is a very busy place at these times.
Your child can bring a water bottle to have in school each day. This is especially important as warmer weather is now upon us! You may also wish to put sunscreen on your child, before they come to school, as the weather hopefully continues to get warmer and sunnier.

Parent Meetings
Next Wednesday, 3rd July, we will be holding an information session for our current Nursery parents, whose children are going to be attending our Reception this coming September. We will be sharing lots of important information regarding the children’s first term in Reception.
The session is being held at 9.00am. Parents and carers should drop their children to nursery as normal and then come to the main school entrance on Davington Road where they will be greeted by a member of staff at 8.55am ready for the meeting to begin promptly.
We then have another information session / stay and play for parent and children who will be starting in Reception in September but who didn’t come to our nursery.
This meeting is on Friday 5th July, one session at 9.30am and the second session at 1.30pm
A third parent meeting / stay & Play session is being held on Thursday 4th July. This session is for parents and children that are joining our Nursery in September, this includes our current Rising 3 children. There are 3 separate sessions on this day: 9.30am, 10.30am and 1.30pm.
All parents and carer should have received a letter stating the time and date of which meeting they should attend.
Uniform
Please ensure that your child always comes to school in the correct, full school uniform and footwear. They should also bring their book bag to school each day.
Please ensure your child has their correct PE kit in school.
As the weather is now warmer, please look at our uniform policy for information regarding the school’s summer uniform.
You can find the school uniform policy on the website or please ask in the school office for a hard copy.
If you have any school uniform in good condition that your child has grown out of. we would be grateful for donations.
Please remember to write your child’s name in ALL of their uniform.
Parent Governor Vacancy
The Governing Body of Dorothy Barley Infant School has one vacancy for a Parent Governor. Governors are people who want to make positive contributions to the school and the education of its pupils. Parent Governors are elected by their fellow parents. They are important because they keep other governors in touch with issues that concern the pupils’ parents.
Being a Parent Governor can be enjoyable and rewarding. If you have the enthusiasm to come more closely involved with the running of your child’s school please come and collect and application form from the school office.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs. Lauren Pearce
