Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week in school! Don’t forget to check the blog posts at the bottom of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class.
Little Wandle Champion School
We are very proud to share that we have recently been awarded Champion School status in recognition of the way we teach early reading and phonics using Little Wandle. This means that we are one of only twenty-three schools across the country recognised for excellence in the teaching of early reading. As a Champion School, we will now have other schools coming to see Little Wandle in action at our school and share the wonderful work our staff and children are doing.
This award recognises the hard work and commitment of all members of staff in ensuring that our children learn to read.
Time to Talk – Online Safety
Our next ‘Time to Talk’ session is on Wednesday 4th December at 8.55am and is focused on online safety. We are delighted to be joined by our Local Authority advisory teacher for Computing, who will share information about how to keep our children safe as they access the internet. The online world is becoming a bigger part of daily life and it’s really important that our children are protected.
There will also be the opportunity to ask any questions about online safety or share any concerns. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Parents Evening
Our Autumn term Parents Evenings will be held on Wednesday 11th December and Thursday 12th December. During this meeting, teachers will share important information about your child’s progress in school and how you can support their learning at home.
Parents Evening slots are now bookable using ParentMail for parents and carers of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. You will have received a letter earlier this week with instructions for booking appointments but if you are having any difficulties, please come to the school office where we can help you.
Nursery meetings will take place on Wednesday 11th December. This means that the Nursery is closed to pupils on that day. Please see Miss Rehling, Sue or Zoe to book your appointment
Year 2 Educational Visit – Tower of London
Year 2 had a wonderful time this week visiting the Tower of London as part of their History unit of work. The children have been learning about the Great Fire of London in school and were able to participate in an educational workshop to learn more about this historical event. They also had a full tour of the Tower and even got to see the Crown Jewels! All three classes showed exemplary behaviour and displayed our school values.
Thank you once again to all parents who kindly donated their time to join us on this trip. Our educational visits would not be possible without this support from parents and carers.
Christmas Nativity Plays
We are all looking forward to sharing our Christmas nativity plays and concerts with you! Each year group will be performing on the dates below:
Monday 16th December – Year 1
Tuesday 17th December – Year 2 Carol Concert
Wednesday 18th December – Reception
Thursday 19th December – Nursery
Musician of the Week
Every week, we learn about a different musician in school, from different time periods, cultures and styles of music. This week the children have enjoyed listening to Oasis.
Have a lovely weekend!
