Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week in school! Don’t forget to check the blog posts below to find out more about what your child has been learning in their class.
Team Protect
At Dorothy Barley, we have many opportunities for the children to develop their leadership skills as Pupil Leaders. This week, children have been chosen to be part of Team Protect. This team works with Mrs Ratford to make sure that everyone is happy and safe at school, especially during playtimes and lunchtimes. Team Protect members are kind, caring and always willing to help others. They will begin their new roles in the Spring Term. Congratulations to everyone selected to be part of this team!
Community Music Service Orchestra
On Tuesday, we welcomed the Community Music Service orchestra into school for a very special Christmas concert. The children listened to a range of songs and even had the chance to join in and sing along! They also learned all about the different instruments that make up an orchestra, how they are played and how the sound made by each instrument can be changed.
Reception Garden
We are delighted that our new Reception garden is completed and ready for the children to use! After waiting patiently during the building work, the children have now all explored the new equipment and the different areas of learning they can access outdoors. In Reception, the outdoor area acts as an extension of the classroom and is where the children develop their communication, language, physical and social skills.
The children have been very sensible and are looking after the new equipment very well. Please could all parents and carers ensure that children are supervised before and after school and not allowed to play in the Reception garden.
Parents Evening
Thank you to everyone who attended Parents Evening this week. We value the important contribution parents and carers make to their child’s education and always want to work in collaboration with you. If you have any questions about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to speak to their teacher.
