Dear Parents and Carers,
We have come to the end of another busy week in school. As you know, the school closed early on Tuesday so that staff could attend Mrs Smith’s funeral. The service was a wonderful celebration of Mrs Smith’s life and was also a testament to her dedication and passion for teaching, which so many of you experienced. We know that you have many memories of Mrs Smith and the impact she had on so many in our school community. We would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.
Dance Days Workshops
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were thrilled to take part in Dance Days workshops this week. Each workshop was led by a professional dance instructor and linked to what the children are learning in class, developing their understanding of different cultures and traditions around the world. The children really enjoyed showing off their moves!
If you have not yet contributed £3 towards the cost of these workshops, please could you do so using Parent Pay. This allows us to continue to offer a range of exciting experiences for the children.
After School Clubs
At Dorothy Barley Infant School, we offer a range of lunchtime and after-school enrichment clubs. This is because we want our children to have a wide range of experiences and develop their own interests and talents.
Next week our PE coach, Miss King, is starting a Multi-Sports club every Thursday after school for children in Year 1 and Year 2. There are still a few places left in this club, so please let us know in the office if you would like your child to join.
Junior Duke
Thanks to the incredible amount of money raised through our 30-Minute Olympics last term, we have been able to register every child for the Junior Duke award. The children were given their booklets this week and are excited to start the challenges!
Once you have completed a challenge at home, your child needs to bring their booklet into school so that we can celebrate their achievement. The challenge will be officially signed off in school and contribute towards the award. Every Friday in assembly, we will be celebrating the children who have completed a challenge in their Junior Duke booklet.
We will also be completing some of the challenges in school and inviting parents and carers in to join in!
Have a lovely weekend!
