Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week in school this week. Don’t forget to check the blogs below to find out what your child has been learning in class.
On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day! The children all came into school in their pyjamas so that we could get cosy and enjoy reading. At Dorothy Barley Infant School, reading is a top priority and we want all of our children to love reading and choose to read for pleasure.
During the day, children paired up with an older or younger child from a different class and shared their favourite books with them. We also welcomed so many of our families into school to read with the children. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us to share the magic of reading.

On Monday, Tawny Owl class visited the National Portrait Gallery in London. In History, the children will be learning about the monarchs Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II and in Art they will be drawing their own self-portraits. All of the children represented the school fantastically and showed our school values. All of our Year 2 classes have now been on this Educational Visit

Our Spring term Parents Evenings will be held on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd April. This is a really important chance for us to share information with you about your child’s progress and experiences at school. As in the autumn term, all appointments will be booked using Parent Mail.
A letter has been sent home this week with information about how to book your appointment. If you have any difficulties with this, please come and see us in the school office.
The Nursery will be closed on Wednesday 2nd April for parent meetings.
We will be participating in Red Nose Day on Friday 21st March. Children are welcome to wear Red Nose Day merchandise to school and we will be collecting donations for charity.
We also have an exciting karaoke session planned for lunchtime!
When bringing your child to school, please drive and park considerately in the roads around the school. If your child is in Nursery, please queue up on the junior school side of our Nursery gate.
Proofs of class photos have been sent home this week. Don’t forget to order your photos!
If you need to take your child to an appointment that cannot be scheduled outside of school hours, you will need to provide evidence of this appointment. Please let the office know in advance.
