Dear Parents and Carers,
We have come to the end of another busy week at school. Don’t forget to check the blog posts at the bottom of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Time to Talk – Family Navigators – Tuesday 9am
We are delighted to welcome Stacy Collins, a Family Navigator from the Barking and Dagenham Family Hub, to school on Tuesday morning for our next Time to Talk Session. Family Navigators can support families in areas such as housing, healthcare, special educational needs and childcare, as well as signposting you to services provided within the borough.
Stacy will give a short presentation and then there will be an opportunity to speak with her on a one to one basis if there is anything that you would like to discuss. We hope to see as many of you there as possible! Please enter via the playground after dropping your child to school.
Parent Survey
We recently conducted a parent survey to gather your feedback about our school. Your opinions as parents and carers are very important to us and we are always looking for ways to develop our school to ensure that we are giving all of our children the best possible start to their education.
The response was very positive. 100% of parents and carers feel that their child is happy and safe at Dorothy Barley Infant School, that they are taught well and making good progress. Relationships with families are at the heart of everything we do as we know that our children have the best outcomes when parents and the school work closely together.

Red Nose Day

We will be celebrating Red Nose Day in school on Friday 21st March and learning about the importance of charity and helping others. It will be a non-uniform day and children are welcome to wear red clothes or Red Nose Day merchandise. As always, we will be collecting donations on the doors in the morning. The children will also have the opportunity to participate in karaoke at lunchtime!
Parents Evening
Our Spring Term Parents Evenings are on Wednesday 2nd April (3:30-7:00pm) and Thursday 3rd April (3:30-5:00pm). During the meetings, teachers will be sharing information about your child’s progress and how you can support them with their learning at home.
Parents Evening appointments are now bookable for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 on Parent Mail. If you are having any difficulty booking an appointment, please come and see us in the office and we can help you.
Nursery parents can book a daytime appointment on Wednesday 2nd April by speaking to Miss Rehling, Sue or Zoe.
