Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week at school. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the bottom of the newsletter to find out what your child has been learning in class.
House Challenge – Culture and Heritage
On Friday 23rd May, we will be completing our fifth House Challenge of this academic year, celebrating and learning more about the many cultures and heritages we have in our school. As part of the House Challenge, we are inviting all children to come into school in cultural dress, or wearing the colours of their flag. There will be time throughout the day for the children to share what they are wearing and talk about their culture and traditions in their classes.
Our House Challenge in the afternoon will focus on the many different languages spoken by children in our school. We have over thirty different languages spoken and recognise the important role that home languages play in a child’s development.
We are also inviting parents and carers to come into school and read a story to your child’s class in your home language. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience different languages, whether that is hearing a story in a new language or enjoying one in their own.
If you would like to take part and share a story with the children, please speak to your child’s class teacher. We have a range of dual-language books available in school, but you are welcome to bring a book from home if you prefer. Guest readers should arrive at the main office at 2.45pm, and you will be taken to your child’s class from there.
Nursery parents/carers should arrive at the Nursery gate at 11.00am.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the many different languages and cultures that make up our school community!
Reception Educational Visits
Reception are very much looking forward to their upcoming trip to Eastbury Manor House on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st May. The children will be participating in their Turrets and Tiaras workshop, learning more about knights and castles. This links to their Understanding the World learning in class this term.
Classes will be visiting on the following dates:
Tuesday 20th May – Butterfly and Ladybird
Wednesday 21st May – Bumblebee
Reminders
Even though the weather is getting hotter, all children should still be in full school uniform. In the summer, this means black tailored shorts with the white school polo shirt. Girls may also wear a blue gingham checked dress with white socks. All children should be wearing plain black shoes. Please see the uniform list below for further information.
School Uniform List
Please take care when driving in the streets around the school in the mornings and after school. The surrounding roads are very busy and the safety of the children is paramount. Please park considerately.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team are holding their next ward panel meeting on Thursday 18th June at 6pm. The venue is Barking Sporthouse and Gym, Mayesbrook Park, Lodge Avenue. All residents are welcome to attend.
Have a lovely weekend!
