Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back for the last half term of this academic year! We have enjoyed seeing the children again after the break and hearing about their adventures. This last half term is a busy one and will go very quickly!
Curriculum Themes
All year groups have begun teaching their new wider curriculum themes for this half term. The curriculum theme holds together all of the learning in the foundation subjects such as History, Geography and Art. Each theme begins with an exciting entry point to get the children inspired and ready to learn.
Our new curriculum themes are:
Nursery | Budding Builders |
Reception | Design and Build |
Year 1 | Oh, I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside! |
Year 2 | Eureka! |
Look out for our curriculum overviews coming home early next week with more information about what your child will be learning in each subject.
Sports Day
Sports Day is fast approaching and will take place on Friday 20th June. The children have already begun practising their running, throwing and jumping in preparation!
All Sports Day events will take place on the field and families should enter the school via the breakfast club gate on Hedingham Road. The children will move around the different activities and you are more than welcome to follow your child’s class and encourage them on. There will also be a grown ups race at the end of each event, so come prepared!
Sports Day times are as follows:
Reception and Morning Nursery – 9:15am
Afternoon Nursery – 12:45pm
Years 1 and 2 – 1:45pm
Children should come to school wearing plan black shorts or jogging bottoms and a top in their house colour. If you have any questions, please come and see us in the school office.
Year 2 Transition
It’s not long now until our Year 2 children leave us and move on to Dorothy Barley Junior School. The Year 2 team have been busy working with the Junior School to ensure the best possible transition for your children. Year 2 parents received a letter from the Junior School this week outlining the transition arrangements and when your child will be visiting their new school to meet their new teachers. Their first visit is on 25th June for a tour of the school.
We know that many children will be feeling both excited and a little nervous about moving to the Junior School. Please reassure your child that lots of their friends will be feeling the same way and there are exciting adventures ahead in their new school!
Dates
Our Year 2 graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday 17th July at 2pm. Further information will follow closer to the time.
Have a lovely weekend!
