Dear Parents and Carers,
We have reached the end of another busy week in school. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Phonic Screening Check
Our Year 1 children have made us very proud this week as they have completed their Phonic Screening Check. This is a national assessment that all children take at the end of Year 1 and it assesses their ability to sound out and read both familiar and unfamiliar words.
The Year 1 team and your children have been working so hard on their reading this year and we have been amazed with their progress! We would like to thank you for your support with listening to your children read at home as this makes a huge difference to their reading ability. We would also like to thank all of the staff working with Year 1 for their dedication and commitment to ensuring that all children learn to read.
Year 1 parents and carers will receive the results of the Phonic Screening Check with their child’s annual report at the end of the term.
Sports Day
Sports Day is fast approaching and will take place on Friday 20th June. The children have already begun practising their running, throwing and jumping in preparation!
All Sports Day events will take place on the field and families should enter the school via the breakfast club gate on Hedingham Road. The children will move around the different activities and you are more than welcome to follow your child’s class and encourage them on. There will also be a grown ups race at the end of each event, so come prepared!
Sports Day times are as follows:
Reception and Morning Nursery – 9:15am
Afternoon Nursery – 12:45pm
Years 1 and 2 – 1:45pm
Children should come to school wearing plan black shorts or jogging bottoms and a top in their house colour. If you have any questions, please come and see us in the school office.
Junior Duke
Reminder – there are only a few weeks left to complete the Junior Duke challenges for this year!
So many of the children have completed challenges and we have really enjoyed seeing all of the photos of what they have been up to, from cooking to helping out at home. If your child has completed any further challenges, please do send in their booklet to Mrs Ratford so we can celebrate their achievements with them in school. If you have any photos to add to our Junior Duke display in the office foyer, this is also very much appreciated!
Reminders
If your child has any worries about school, no matter how big or small, please do speak to their class teacher in the first instance. Friendship issues between children are best resolved by staff within school. Please do not approach other parents directly to discuss this.
Year 1 have their educational visit to London Aquarium next Wednesday. Please ensure you have signed the consent form. Thank you to all the parents and carers who have volunteered their time to support us with this trip!
Our Year 2 graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday 17th July at 2pm. Further information will follow closer to the time.
Have a lovely weekend!
