Dear Parents and Carers,
We have reached the end of a very hot week in school. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Sports Day
We had great fun during Sports Day today! The children gave it their all in every event and displayed great sportsmanship, cheering each other on throughout the events, as did the grown-ups who joined the adult races!
Thank you to everyone who came along to support the children.
The overall winning house as well as Sports Stars from each class will be revealed next week.
Year 1 Educational Visit – London Aquarium
On Wednesday, Year 1 visited the SeaLife London Aquarium as part of their learning linked to their curriculum theme of ‘Oh, I Do Like to be Beside the Sea’. The children saw a range of aquatic creatures and learned lots of interesting facts about them, which hopefully they shared with you at home.
As always, their behaviour was exemplary and they were great representatives of our school. Thank you to the parents and carers who volunteered to support us on the trip.
Year 2 Graduation
The end of the term is fast approaching and our Year 2 children will soon be leaving us. We will be holding a special graduation ceremony for them on Thursday 17th July at 2pm.
We really want to make this a special event where the children can remember their time with us at Dorothy Barley Infant School. As well as the graduation, we will be compiling a personalised photo collage for each child with some memories from the past few years. This will be given to the children on the day of their graduation.
Look out for a letter soon with information abut tickets for the event.
Reminders
We have had more children complete their Junior Duke challenges over the past few weeks. Please remember to send the booklets back into school so we can ensure the children receive their reward!
Year 2 children will be visiting Dorothy Barley Junior Academy for the first time next Wednesday afternoon. This is a great chance for them to meet the team and find out more about their new school. Children currently in Reception and Year 1 will be meeting their new teachers here at Dorothy Barley Infant School on Friday 4th July.
The hot weather looks like it will continue into next week. Please ensure your child comes into school with a hat and water bottle so they can stay cool and hydrated.
Have a lovely weekend!
