Dear Parents and Carers,
We have reached the end of this academic year! We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and to wish you all a very relaxing break over the summer holidays.
Year 1 and Year 2 children return to school on Wednesday 3rd September.
Reception children return to school on Monday 8th September.
Year 2 Graduation
Yesterday, we began saying goodbye to our wonderful Year 2 children with a special graduation ceremony. We are very proud of the way they have grown during their time at Dorothy Barley Infant School and we hope that you are too!
On behalf of all the staff, we wish the children all the best as they move on to their next adventure.
Reception Performance
Reception also had an exciting day on Thursday as they performed ‘What a Beast!’ to their parents and families. They have been busy learning their lines as well as the lyrics to all of the songs.
We definitely have some future performers in this year group!
Junior Duke Assembly
This year, we introduced the Junior Duke award for the first time. The Junior Duke is an award designed to promote and develop life skills, as well as resilience and independence.
We are delighted that so many children have been able to complete their award. Everyone who has completed the challenges received their certificate and badge in our award ceremony on Wednesday. It was standing room only!
We know that children are only able to complete this award with the help and encouragement of their families. Thank you for your support!
Attendance Rewards
As you are aware, attendance is high priority at Dorothy Barley Infant School, as we know that children learn best when they are in school every day on time. We celebrated the children who reached our school target of 96% attendance with a games afternoon on the field.
The children enjoyed playing ball games, parachute games and even skittles before cooling down with an ice pop.
School Dinners
You will have received a letter and an email this week with your login details for School Grid, the new system we will be using for school dinners. From September, parents and carers must log in and book their child’s dinner from home.
Please have a look at this information over the summer holidays so you are prepared for September.
Summer Activities
There are over 39 different summer activities and clubs taking place over the school holidays, organised and facilitated by Barking and Dagenham. These include sports clubs and performing arts so there’s lots to do. Please see the flyer below for more information.
The below letter from Barking and Dagenham also gives health advice for anyone travelling this summer.
We look forward to seeing everyone again in September!
