Dear Parents and Carers,
We have reached the end of another busy week in school! Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
House Captains

Congratulations to our new House Captains! All of the Year 2 children had the opportunity to apply for this important leadership position in school and then we held a democratic vote. Everyone in Year 2 got to vote for who they think will represent their House well. The votes have been tallied and the new House Captains are….
| Attenborough House | Reggie and Maria |
| Benjamin House | Evelyn and Minahil |
| Donaldson House | Selman and Kacper |
| Rashford House | Elze and Sulayman |
House Captains collect House Points, present in assemblies and help to lead our House Challenges. They also represent the school to visitors and our community.
Mini Olympics
Today we held our ‘Mini Olympics’ fundraising event for the Junior Duke award. It was great to see so many parents and carers joining in with sporting and athletic challenges alongside their children!
The Mini Olympics helps us to raise money to continue to offer the Junior Duke award. This life skills award gives every child the opportunity to develop their independence, confidence and resilience. We were blown away by amount of children who completed their award last year and by the wonderful photos that you shared with us.
It’s not too late to sponsor your child – all money will be spent directly on the Junior Duke booklets and awards for the children. Please send all sponsorship money into school by Friday 7th November.
Thank you for your continued support.
Time to Talk – Barking and Dagenham College
We are hosting our first ‘Time to Talk’ of the academic year next Friday 17th October at 8:55am. Time to Talk sessions are an informal opportunity to come into school and discuss important issues with both staff and other families. Tea, coffee and snacks are always provided!
On Friday, we will be welcoming staff from Barking and Dagenham College, who will be sharing information about the courses and services on offer to adults living in our borough. This includes English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Please enter the school from the Key Stage One playground after dropping off your child. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival is just around the corner and we will be thinking about how we can help our local community. In line with our school values of character and compassion, we will be collecting donations for the Trussell Trust. The Trussell Trust is a national charity with over 1,400 food bank locations in the UK, including locally to us in Dagenham.
We are encouraging children to bring in long-lasting food items to donate to the Trussell Trust, for example canned and dried foods. Children should bring donations into school next week as each class will be preparing a box of items to donate. All donations will be gratefully received by the Trussell Trust.
Reminders
Parents Evening is on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October and appointments are bookable on Parent Mail. Don’t forget to book your appointment if you haven’t done so already! If you experience any issues with this, the office will be able to help you.
We have a growing collection of lost property (mainly jumpers) in school. Please ensure that your child’s uniform is clearly labelled with their name, so that we can return it to you in the event of it becoming lost.
Have a lovely weekend!
