Dear Parents and Carers,
We have come to the end of the first half term of this academic year. The children have all done so well settling into their new classes and year groups. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Parents Evening
Thank you to everyone who attended Parents Evening yesterday or will be attending after school today. We recognise the important role that parents and carers play in their child’s education and know that we can achieve the best outcomes for children when we work together in partnership.
If you have any further questions about your child’s progress, or were unable to attend Parents Evening, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Educational Visits and Workshops
We have an exciting few weeks planned when we return to school after the half term break!
EYFS – Wellgate Farm will be visiting us here at school on Tuesday 4th November. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to see and learn about farm animals, and supports their learning in class.
Year 1 – Year 1 are off on an educational visit to London Transport Museum. Rabbit class are visiting on Monday 3rd November, Squirrel class on Monday 10th November and Hedgehog class on Monday 17th November. This visit fits in with their new wider curriculum theme ‘On the Move’.
Year 2 – Year 2 will be visiting the Tower of London to learn all about the Great Fire of London! Kingfisher class are visiting on Tuesday 18th November and Woodpecker class on Tuesday 25th November.
If you have not yet made your donation towards the cost of these visits and workshops through Parent Pay, please do so as soon as you can. Without your donations, it isn’t possible for us to offer experiences like these to the children. We also very much appreciate parents and carers who give up their time to help out on the trips.
School Nurse
Our school nurse will be visiting on Friday 7th November. She will be available to meet with parents of children in Year 1 and Year 2 and can offer advice on a range of issues, including sleep, emotional wellbeing, food and diet. If you have any worries about your child, no matter how small, she will be happy to meet with you to discuss them.
If you would like to meet with the school nurse, please speak to your child’s teacher or contact the school office.
Time to Talk – Family Navigators
Our next session is on Wednesday 5th November at 8:55am, where we will be inviting Family Navigators into school. Family Navigators work within the Barking and Dagenham Family Hubs and support families with children aged 0-19. They are there to offer a listening ear and friendly advice in a number of areas, including meeting your child’s changing needs as they grow up, finding local and specialist support, building positive family routines and specialist support for children with special educational needs and disabilities. They are family focused and very supportive. This session is an opportunity to find out more about the work of Family Navigators and also speak to a Family Navigator about your child.
Please enter the school from the Key Stage One playground after dropping off your child. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
Reminders
If you have not yet sent in your sponsorship money for the Mini Olympics, there is still time to do so! Please send all sponsor money into school by Friday 7th November.
All children return to school on Monday 3rd November at the usual time. We look forward to seeing you all then!
Have a lovely half term break.
