Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week in school and have been enjoying the Spring weather. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Reception Sing-a-Long

Reception children were very proud to perform in their Spring Sing-a-Long concert today! Everyone looked wonderful in their bright spring clothes and the children did a fantastic job of remembering all of the words to the songs. They are becoming so confident to perform in front of others.
We are sure that all families who attended left feeling very proud of their child!
Time to Talk – Fussy Eaters

This week, we were delighted to host a “Fussy Eaters” workshop for both children and parents, and it was a great success! The children were encouraged to explore and try new foods in a supportive, pressure-free environment. Many of the children tried and enjoyed foods they had not experienced before. Meanwhile, parents had the opportunity to come together, share their experiences, and exchange helpful ideas and strategies. It was a positive and engaging session for everyone involved.
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend! If you have any ideas for future Time to Talk sessions, please do let us know.
Year 2 – My Emotions
The NHS Wellbeing in Schools (WISE) team have continued their work with Woodpecker class on understanding different emotions. This week the children learnt about understanding the impact emotions can have on our body. We learnt that we have emotions in our bodies and in our brain and how our body gives us clues to what we are feeling.
You can help your child by supporting them to notice how their body feels and encouraging them to connect this to an emotion that was discussed last week.
Nursery 2026-2027
We are very much looking forward to our new Nursery children joining us in September! This week, the Nursery team have been out and about on home visits, getting to know children and families.
If your child was born between September 2022 and August 2023, they are able to join our Nursery in September. Our Nursery gets the children off to the best possible start to their educational journey and supports them to get ready for Reception. Please ask for an application form from the office to secure a space.
School Nurse
Our School Nurse will be visiting on Tuesday 19th May and running drop in sessions for parents and carers of children in Year 1 and Year 2.
These sessions are very informal and are a chance for you to talk to a healthcare professional about any concerns you may have about your child’s health, wellbeing and development. No concern is too small and she is always happy to speak to parents and offer advice.
Please let the office know if you would like to book an appointment.
Makaton
As a school, we are learning Makaton as another method of communication. Makaton is a communication programme that uses signs, symbols, and speech to help people communicate effectively, especially those with speech or language difficulties.
Here are the signs we have been learning this week. Scan the QR codes for further information!

Reminders
The school is closed on Monday 4th May as it is a bank holiday.
Have a lovely weekend!
