Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy and very hot week in school. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Rocksteady Concert

Well done to all of our budding rock stars who performed to their friends and families on Wednesday morning! The children receive music tuition every week from Mack and work together as a group to learn and perform a range of songs. They showed great skill and confidence when performing!
We will have a number of spaces available for Rocksteady next year when our Year 2 children have left us. If you would like to reserve your child a place, please follow the instructions on the letter your child came home with earlier in the week.
Sports Day Update – Monday
Our Sports Day will be going ahead on Monday morning for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 at 9:10am. Please enter the event via the field gate on Hedingham Road.
As the weather is forecast to be very warm, there will be a number of adaptations to the event. Reception have been moved to the morning when the weather is coolest to ensure they can still participate. Children will take part in a reduced number of events and there will be fewer running events to avoid over-exertion. We have also shortened the length of the event and included extra rest and water breaks.
Please ensure all children come into school with a water bottle and sun hat and have had sun cream applied at home. Children should wear black shorts and a T-shirt in the colour of their school house.
Nursery Sports Day will be incorporated into their visit to the park on Thursday 16th July.
End of Term Events
We have a number of exciting events coming up as we enter the last week of term!
On Tuesday morning, parents of children who have completed their Junior Duke award are invited in for a special celebration assembly.
On Wednesday, Nursery will be having a beach day! It is a non-uniform day for Nursery and children are encouraged to come to school wearing their brightest clothes.
On Thursday afternoon at 2pm, we have our Year 2 graduation. This is always a wonderful celebration of the time that the Year 2 children have spent here at Dorothy Barley Infant School and a chance to say goodbye before they move to the Junior School. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!
End of Term Arrangements
The last day of term for Nursery is Wednesday 15th July. Children and families are invited to join us at the park on Thursday 16th July between 10am and 2pm for an end of Nursery celebration.
Last day of term for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 is Friday 17th July. This will be a non-uniform day and school finishes at 1:15pm.
Children in Years 1 and 2 return to school on Thursday 3rd September. The first day for our new Reception children is Monday 7th September.
Have a lovely weekend!
