Dear Parents and Carers,
We have reached the end of the academic year! We are very proud of the progress all of the children have made this year and look forward to the next stage in their journey with us in September. Thank you for your continued support and we hope you all enjoy a lovely summer break!
Children going into Year 1 and Year 2 return to school on Thursday 3rd September. Reception children return to school on Monday 7th September. We look forward to seeing you all then.
Year 2 Graduation

We have been saying goodbye to our wonderful Year 2 children this week. On Thursday, we welcomed parents and carers into school for a special Year 2 graduation. The children shared their favourite memories of their time here at Dorothy Barley Infant School, received their graduation certificates and sang a range of songs beautifully. We are very proud of the way they have grown up with us and although we will miss them, we know that they are well prepared for junior school and all of the exciting opportunities they have ahead of them. They are a credit to you!
Sports Day

We were pleased that the weather was cool enough to fit in Sports Day on Monday! Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 took part in a range of events, including relay racing, javelin, completing an obstacle course and the egg and spoon race. They all tried their best in every event and showed great sportsmanship too, cheering on their friends.
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who were able to attend, we really appreciate your support.
The results are in and the winning house is Donaldson house, who won by only one point! Congratulations to everyone from Donaldson house. Teachers also awarded ‘sports star’ certificates in assembly today to children who participated fully, excelled or who displayed sportsmanship. Thank you to Miss Perry for organising a great event!
Junior Duke Celebration
We also celebrated the children across the school who have completed their Nano Duke, Micro Duke, Mini Duke Silver or Mini Duke Gold award. Lots of the children have now completed two awards and are building up their Junior Duke collection! We recognise that for children to complete the challenges, they need the support of their families and would like to thank all parents and carers who have enabled their child to participate.
We had a great turnout for our celebration event on Tuesday morning and were very proud of everyone involved!
