Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your continued support during another very busy school week!
Junior Duke
This week we launched the Junior Duke Awards, to build independence, confidence, resilience and self-motivation. All children will have the opportunity to complete a series of challenges both in school and at home to learn new skills. We will be fundraising to raise money for the children to take part and earn certificates and badges. Further information about this will follow.
This week you will have received a consent form for your child to participate. Please do sign and return these to school as soon as possible so your child can benefit from this exciting opportunity!
Please also come along to our first ‘Time to Talk’ on Wednesday 9th October at 8:55am, where we will share more about the Junior Duke awards.
Little Wandle Meetings
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Little Wandle Parent Meetings with Mrs Thomas this week. Reading is of the utmost importance at Dorothy Barley Infant School and we value the important contribution parents and carers make in helping their children become fluent, confident readers.
To find out more about how we teach reading in school, you can visit the the Little Wandle website: Little Wandle for Parents
Flu Vaccinations
The flu vaccination is being offered for children in school on Tuesday. You will have received a link to the online consent form via Parent Mail.
Reminders
For health and safety reasons, children are not allowed to ride their scooters or bikes in the playground before or after school. It can become very busy around the school gate and this will ensure everyone’s safety.
All children should have a Dorothy Barley Infant School book bag. We have very limited space in school and are unable to store larger bags or rucksacks.
Musician of the Week
Every week, we learn about a different musician in school, from different time periods, cultures and styles of music. This week the children have enjoyed listening to the music of Katy Perry.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
