Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week in school. Don’t forget to check the blogs at the end of the newsletter to see what your child has been learning in class!
Staffing Update
After many years of dedicated service to our school, Miss Perry will be leaving us at the end of this term to take up a teaching position closer to home. Miss Perry has been a key part of our school community for many years and has nurtured so many of your children. Every class she has taught has benefited from her care and commitment. We will miss her greatly but wish her every success in her new role!
Our Early Years Leader of Learning, Miss Rehling, will be based at our partner school, Parsloes Primary School, full time next year.
In September, we will be welcoming Miss Jannah to our teaching team. Miss Jannah will be teaching in Year 2 and has spent some time in school this term getting to know the children. We are very much looking forward to welcoming her in September.
Transition Afternoon
The children had a very exciting afternoon meeting their new teachers today! The current Reception and Year 1 pupils met their new teachers here at Dorothy Barley Infant School and the Year 2 children visited the Junior School.
Everyone had a lovely afternoon and the children are looking very ready to move up to the next year group! Please see the letter below for further information about new classes for next year.
Time to Talk Transition – Kingfisher Class

This week, Kingfisher class welcomed the W.I.S.E. Team and our families for a wonderful Time to Talk transition session.
Together, the children explored how they felt about moving to a new class, discussing the similarities and differences they might experience. They shared their thoughts and feelings confidently and enjoyed listening to one another’s ideas. The session also focused on recognising big feelings and learning helpful strategies to manage them. The children discussed different ways they can calm themselves, ask for help, and build confidence as they prepare for this exciting new chapter.
A huge thank you to all of our parents and carers who attended and supported the session!
Junior Duke
Congratulations to Dayyan, Maisie, Mahad, Arista, Adam and Arjeta who have completed their Junior Duke award this week!
There are many children in the school who have already fully completed their Junior Duke award, which is fantastic. Please remind your children to bring their books into school for signing each time they have completed a challenge. We have a few more weeks to go before the end of term, and we hope many more children will be able to complete their award this year! The deadline is 9th July.
